Halter House – Museum and Resource Centre

The Mary­hill His­tor­i­cal Soci­ety’s muse­um and resource cen­tre has been new­ly orga­nized and ren­o­vat­ed in 2021.  It is locat­ed in the Edward Hal­ter House in Mary­hill across from the Church and  includes three floors of arti­facts. On the main floor is an old fash­ioned kitchen and chapel dis­play. Upstairs there is a turn-of-the-cen­tu­ry bed­room and a resource room which hous­es an assort­ment of dis­plays includ­ing a Vet­er­ans dis­play and trib­ute, old school text­books and pho­tos, tra­di­tion­al Alsa­t­ian cloth­ing and more.  The base­ment con­tains farm dis­plays and maps. Our library, locat­ed in the kitchen includes a large col­lec­tion of fam­i­ly his­to­ries, cen­sus returns for Water­loo Town­ship, records from St. Boni­face Church, nat­u­ral­iza­tion records, land records, church histories.

Hal­ter House Resource Cen­tre  is open in the sum­mer on Sun­days in June, July and August from 1pm  to 4pm. At oth­er times the resource cen­tre is open by appointment.
